Tonight - Omaha Shout Out Against The Death Penalty Event

Today, Thursday, February 21, 2007 is a CRITICAL MASS event in Omaha regarding the abolition of the death penalty. We need you there and we need you to pass this note on to your friends and email lists:
What: SHOUT OUT AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY--service of reflection, Curtis McCarthy keynote, Art in Action and Dialogue
When: THURSDAY, February 21, 7:00 p.m.
Where: First United Methodist Church 7020 Cass St. (East of Crossroads mall)
Who: Curtis McCarthy (exonerated from Oklahoma's death row after 22 years--he was found innocent!), and interfaith leaders
Why: This event comes at a critical time in the statewide discussion about the abolition of the death penalty. The NE Supreme Court has already rendered the electric chair unconstitutional. NOW IS THE TIME for our eyes to turn to THIS EVENT. Chances are the Nebraska Legislature will have begun discussion of LB 1063, the death penalty abolition bill, by the time you get to THIS EVENT. It will be important to attend and to discuss how we will help our representatives understand that they will vote for LB 1063!
PLEASE PASS THIS ON!!
Also, Saturday, February 23, there will be an organizing meeting at Augustana Lutheran Church (3647, Lafayette Ave., Omaha) from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. for the Omaha Coalition for Abolition--that is you! Come, get the latest updates on abolition, AND be a part of future abolition planning in Omaha. Immediately following this event, there will be a lobbying workshop from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. if you are interested in learning some new tricks to use as you contact your representatives.
